Call for Papers

Special Issue on
Symbolic Computation in Biology
Call for Papers (.pdf, .txt)
Recent advances of the symbolic computation performance are remarkable in terms
of software and algorithms. Owing to these advances, many applications of symbolic
computation to various issues in biology are emerging. Such applications as reported in a number of recent papers are not limited to the equation processing. To facilitate the exchange of new ideas and the presentation of research results, a series of the International Conference on Algebraic Biology has been organized since 2005, focusing on the application of symbolic computation to biology, a subject that is included usually as a session at other relevant conferences.
This issue of Mathematics in Computer Science(MCS),
a new journal launched by Birkhäuser/Springer,
will be devoted to reporting significant research developments and progress on the application of symbolic computation
to biological issues. High-quality original research papers, in particular those that substantially extend ideas and topics presented at
the Third International Conference on Algebraic Biology (AB2008)(Research
Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC), Linz, Austria, July 31-August 2, 2008), are solicited.
Topics
The topics of the special issue are covered by those of AB2008.
Submission Guidelines
- It is recommended that papers be prepared using LaTeX with the class file in birkmult.zip
and according to the instructions for authors available on the MCS webpage.
- While there is no strict page limit, papers are expected to be approximately 20 pages long.
- A submission should contain
- the title and abstract of the paper in plain text
- the name and e-mail address of the communicating author
- a PDF as e-mail attachment
and be sent to the guest editor with subject line "mcs-issue".
- Revised versions of the papers presented in AB2008 may be submitted, provided that they are substantially extended from the work published in the AB2008 proceeding volume.
- Submissions should be sent to the following guest editor:
Katsuhisa Horimoto
